Siksika Nation

I am an artist from the Blackfoot tribe and a member of Siksika Nation in Southern Alberta. I am currently pursuing a Bachelors of Fine Arts and majoring in drawing and reside in Calgary Alberta to attend school. The work I make deal with my own identity, Blackfoot culture, stories told, and the Aboriginal/Native American issues in North America. Growing up, I had little knowledge of my Blackfoot culture but as a teen I began exploring it and I continue to learn to this day and try to share this by educating others with my practices. With the drawings I want to give myself a platform for my voice as an aboriginal and to also use it for discussing native culture and the issues that go on in native communities. This is important to me because as a young aboriginal I have this engrained purpose to tell my story and the stories of my people.

With my work I want to make an impact on Canada’s society with the powerful concepts of storytelling and the issues in Aboriginal/Native American communities in North America.
