Chelsea Yang-Smith

Chelsea Yang-Smith is a Calgary-based emerging artist with a penchant for melancholy, longing, and desire. She examines intimacy, vulnerability, and the omnipresence of both (or lack thereof) in current digital conversations using traditional film photography, text, and installation. Through her work she explores the growing sociological impact technology is having on our relationships and interactions.

Recently completing a practicum at the Banff Centre for Creativity and the Arts, Chelsea is a graduate from the Alberta College of Art + Design where she received a Bachelor of Design in Photography. She is a member of the photography studio collective, Loft 704 and has participated in a number of group exhibitions around the city including but not limited to: ATB Hear / Tell (2016), Stationary (2016), and blindspot: Silver Linings (2016).
