Workshop and Market Coordinator

Femme Wave is looking for a dedicated volunteer to coordinate the festival workshops and incorporate a market aspect into Saturday programming at the Royal Canadian Legion #1.

Job Description

Working with the Artistic Directors, Festival Manager and Board of Directors, the Workshop and Market Coordinator will curate accessible and educational workshops at Femme Wave as well as facilitate a community marketplace in the upstairs rec room of The Legion.

The role will focus on three objectives to deliver quality, diverse programming.

  1. Research and prepare a suitable submissions call that communicates Femme Wave values, mission and vision
  2. Ensure submissions calls have a wide reach and are highly accessible to the community
  3. Maintain Femme Wave standards of diversity and inclusiveness

Job Duties

  • Coordinate with venue staff all logistics pertaining to workshops and community marketplace
  • Gather workshop requirements and, with the assistance of the Femme Wave committee, ensure all setup and takedown is completed
  • Develop workshop schedule and ensure visibility at venue
  • Develop online content for workshops and community marketplace, including signup sheets, bios and descriptions
  • Communicate Femme Wave’s safer space policy to all workshop facilitators and community marketplace vendors
  • Draft submissions call and manage selection process, in coordination with festival directors
  • Work with Volunteer Coordinator to fill volunteer needs

Requirements

  • Research, time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication, both oral and written, and facilitation skills
  • Experience with social media administration and graphic design an asset

The Workshop and Market Coordinator will work from April 15 2017 – December 15 2017, with the possibility of extension. Time commitments will vary and increase into October and November, when the festival takes place, but will average 5-10 hours per week. Hours are flexible and will vary. This is an unpaid volunteer position.

Safer Spaces Coordinator

Safer Spaces Coordinator
Femme Wave is looking for a dedicated volunteer to head up our Safer Spaces initiative for the 2017 festival.

Job Description

Working with the Artistic Directors, Volunteer Coordinator and Board of Directors, the Safer Spaces Coordinator will develop a policy specific to Femme Wave and implement the policy at all festival events.

The objective of the Safer Spaces Coordinator will be to ensure the festival provides a safe and inclusive space for all attendees, artists and participants.

Job Duties

  • Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, train and schedule a team of safer spaces volunteers to ensure the policy is maintained at all events
  • Research and develop a safer spaces policy specific to Femme Wave, using the existing 2016 policy as a template
  • Create and distribute safer spaces training manuals
  • Coordinate with venue staff about accessibility and Safer Spaces policy implementation
  • Create visual identifiers for safer spaces volunteers
  • Put up and take down safer spaces signage at each venue
  • Assist in developing consistent language and tone surrounding Femme Wave
  • Adhere to deadlines and maintain progress communication

  • Research, time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication, both oral and written, and facilitation skills

Volunteer Femme Film Curator

Volunteer Femme Film Curator

Femme Wave is looking for a dedicated volunteer to curate film programming for the 2017 festival.

Job Description

Working with the Artistic Directors, Festival Manager and Board of Directors, the Femme Film Curator will develop a vision for Femme Wave film programming that is in line with the festival’s mission, vision and values.

The role will focus on three objectives to deliver quality, diverse programming.

  1. Research and prepare a suitable process of film selection
  2. Ensure films are accessible and all tech requirements are met at venue
  3. Maintain Femme Wave standards of diversity and inclusiveness

Job Duties

  • Develop a list of potential filmmakers or specific films to screen at the festival, using a submission process or individual selection
  • Coordinate with film venue(s) to ensure all screening needs are met
  • Develop online content about the film programming
  • Work with other film organizations in Calgary to ensure relationships are maintained and resources are respected and/or shared
  • Work within a designated budget laid out by the Board and report on the finances of the programming
  • Responsible for coordination and transportation of screens, projectors, chairs and other materials

Requirements

  • Deeply passionate about film, particularly feminist film
  • Knowledge and demonstrated understanding of film culture in Calgary
  • Research, time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication, both oral and written, and facilitation skills
  • Experience with social media administration and graphic design an asset

Artist Care Coordinator

Artist Care Coordinator

Femme Wave is looking for a dedicated volunteer to coordinate all aspects of artist experience and care.

Job Description

Working with the Artistic Directors, Festival Manager and Technical Director, the Artist Care Coordinator will liaise with all festival artists and ensure their needs are met within festival capabilities, including possible billeting, transportation and technical riders. The Artist Care Coordinator is the first line of communication with artists and should go the extra mile to ensure all artists have a memorable and enjoyable festival experience.

Job Duties

  • Collect all information from artists regarding festival performances, including but not limited to riders, backline, tech requirements, bios and promotional photos, media requests
  • Communicating set and load-in times, venue accessibility, payment, etc. with festival artists
  • Ensure artists are aware of Femme Wave’s safer spaces policy and that they both adhere to and benefit from the policy
  • Work with Community Outreach to facilitate green rooms at various venues

Requirements

  • Experience in a festival or music environment
  • Research, time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication, both oral and written, and facilitation skills
  • Experience with social media administration and graphic design an asset
