Born in Calgary, FOONYAP began violin lessons when she was four. At 11, she entered the Mount Royal Conservatory, eventually leaving to pursue her own music. FOONYAP made her mark in indie collective Woodpigeon, contributing her violin chops to an album that was shortlisted for the Polaris music prize. She emerged as a creative force with the punk act, FOONYAP and The Roar, whose album charted in three Canadian cities.
